Milos Raonic |
I blogged before about six players to look out for this year, and Milos Raonic was one of them. Mr. Raonic is definitely on the come up, starting 2011 ranked at 156, then by the end of the Australian Open, he was in the Top 100. He entered the SAP Open in San Jose ranked number 84, and by the time rankings came out on today, February 14th, he's ranked number 59. That's a 97 rankings jump is less than two months.
At the SAP Open he defeated Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5) in the final - becoming the first Canadian to win an ATP Tour level event since Greg Rusedski won the Seoul Open back in 1995, and the youngest player since Marin Cilic won New Haven at 19 back in 2008.
